Tales From The Hood: Red Roof Inn Atlanta - Six Flags

Two days after Christmas and a couple of my childhood friends Darah, Shaun & Shaun's son Brian and I set out on I71 South Cleveland to  Atlanta. We basically just threw some clothes in a bag and hit the road. For years we had been talking about visiting our friend and now and finally it's happening.

The drive was long but it was nice considering that we were on our way to our friend's son's funeral. Being only a few days after the holiday everyone is pretty much tapped out in the finance department but we made the best of it.

Traveling on the freeway into the city at night Downtown Atlanta and all the bridges were lit up really nice but it suddenly became very apparent what type of neighborhood we had found ourselves in pulling up to the hotel. The corner store adjacent to the hotel the bright flashing lights all the people just hanging around outside. There is a gas station across the street that was jumping too. In maybe 5 minutes we saw quite a few drug deals going down in the parking lot.  My one friend was like we stick out like a sore thumb with these out of town plates let's go! We outta here. Our other friend comes back to the car saying that the hotel is over-booked and we don't have a room. Then some lady walked up to our car and tried to open the door but then walked away. As we were leaving we saw her strolling up in the gas station. My battery was dead on my  phone so I searched and found these images below from Google+

Some of the reviews they have...and they're recent

So of course we get customer service on the phone and tell them what the problem is. The agent tells us that can't be right. She puts us on hold while she contacts the hotel front desk. She comes back and says that she has to get her manager and puts us on hold again. When she came back to the phone the last time she apologized for the inconvenience and offer to find us another hotel.

We get to the next hotel and it is filthy. Black & Mild tobacco on the floor between the bed and night stand. Wrinkled, stained bedding. The hard-wood floors hadn't been mopped and the bathroom...so we ended up changing room about 2 more times until we said F*** It! We're tired and sleepy just F*** It!

These reviews are horrible as well. Crack pipes....

My friend had no problem swiping her card at rest stops but it was declined at the hotel. She called customer service and found out her account was put on hold for suspicious activity and would take 24 hours to reverse. My other friend, her job messed up her check so she didn't have the money she expected to travel with. This was the first Christmas after my Mom passed and I balled out on my family's gifts and my Christmas party. Then there was my friend's son who needed a hair cut. We were definitely in rare form but we pulled through to do what we could do to be there for our friend.

We drove 12 hours took a nap went to the funeral and repass and jumped right back on the road and drove 12 hours back home. We we're all sleepy and beat. It's felt so good to cross over into Ohio but we still had 4 more hours to go.

Please forgive my typos I just back into town yesterday and sleep deprived...
